Ethernet Grounding Adapter Kit
Handmade in the USA
If you’re running shielded Ethernet cable (Cat6 shielded, Cat7, or Cat8 — note that Cat7 and Cat8 are shielded by spec, but Cat6 comes in both shielded and unshielded versions, so double-check what you have), the shield is already doing one job for you: blocking RF interference. No grounding required for that.
But there’s a second job that matters just as much to anyone serious about reducing their EMF exposure — keeping 60Hz AC current from conducting onto the cable shield itself. That only happens if the shield is actually grounded. Most everyday devices — laptops, routers, modems, switches, printers — don’t ground their Ethernet ports. This kit closes that gap, grounding the shield and, in many cases, the connected device itself.
What It Does
Not Needed For: Desktop computers with grounded 3-prong power cords — they’re already grounded through the outlet.
Requires: Shielded Cat6, Cat7, or Cat8 cable. Cat5 is never shielded, so it won’t work here. Unshielded Cat6 won’t work either — there’s simply no shield to ground.
Who Needs This
Anyone running shielded Ethernet who wants the shield actually doing its job, especially:
